Designers of a hydraulic actuation system need to calculate the performance characteristics of a hydraulic cylinder such as the cylinder forces excerted during push and pull given pre-defined system characteristics, such as the hydraulic pressure delivered by the hydraulic systems pump.
While the mathematical equations underlying these calculations are straightforward and can be easily implemented within a spreadsheet application having a small GTK-based GUI tool at hand for quick evaluations of different cylinder parameters can be advantageous.
